In the summer of 2023 we learned of an ambitious project being undertaken by the DIY SOS team at Treetops Hospice in Risley, Derbyshire. Treetops provide nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions, those who’ve been bereaved, and their loved ones. One of their services includes counselling and emotional support for children who are struggling after the death of a loved one. The DIY SOS team tasked themselves with building a bespoke children’s counselling and therapy centre.
Custom Group offered to provide all curtains and blinds for the new build facility, to enable patients shading and privacy during their counselling sessions. This offer was gratefully accepted! The project was completed in a staggering 10 days and will benefit traumatically bereaved children and families across Derbyshire. It will enable Treetops to deliver support and counselling in a purpose built building, completely tailored to the needs of the children who will access it.
